Every month the creative team at Mayvenn comes together to create the marketing material for our stylists across the nation. Our mission is to give life to the hair. We create a mood, a vibe, a lewk, if you will, based on the power of hair and beauty. The incorporation of groovy colors and styling inspired by Black hair care ad's and products of the 60's and 70's speaks to the family oriented and festive time of the year.

This fall, the voice of the 50's and 60's made its way back in style and inspired today's beauty trends and hair techniques. We pay homage to the Black entrepreneurs, inventors, models, and artists like Fred Luster, Donna Summer and Pam Grier, as well as the leaders of the present through Hair and Soul. As the infamous line from Coming To America goes, "Just let your sooooulllll gloooow!"

Our edges would not be laid, and our Afros would not be even, had it not been for the trendsetters of the past. Trends in beauty have a way of coming full circle. What was hot then is most likely hot now, or soon coming up next. This year, Autumn is gearing towards deep waves, natural blow outs, and short, elegant curly styles. These classic styles were the inspiration behind the styling of the hair.

Hair and Soul is inspired by beauty gawds. Icons such as Beverly Johnson and Iman who have paved the way for Black Beauty, and the new class such as Rihanna, Solange, and SZA. The funky, soulful styling gets down with our modern, sleek take on hair and beauty. The goal was to create a vision that is familiar yet fresh.
